EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2007 ALL WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A VALID PASSPORT IN ORDER TO BE MARRIED AND TRAVEL TO THE BAHAMAS
24 Hours residency period is required by Bahamian Government prior to applying for your marriage license. Persons wanting to get married on a Saturday or Sunday must be in the Bahamas by Thursday to apply for license on Friday.
Documents Required for obtaining Marriage License You must be in possession of a valid Passport, Drivers license and Birth Certificates no longer accepted. Immigraton form stamped by Bahamas Immigration should be available when applying for your documents , showing date and time of arrival into the Bahamas, this is very important. Documents in foreign languages must be translated into English and notarized before your arrival in the Bahamas. If you are divorced, please bring along original divorce decree with raised court seal. If Widowed, a death certificate must be submitted confirming same. Persons under the age of 18 years of age, requires an affidavit stating parents consent to marry. Forms are available at the Registrar Generals Office Nassau Bahamas. If you are traveling by cruise ship, you are required to bring along an original letter confirming date and time ship entered the Bahamas. Letter must also confirm that Bride and Groom are indeed passengers on that cruise ship...letter to be signed only by Captain or Purser - your boarding pass is also necessary. All fees pertaining to your marriage license and affidavits are included in your selected wedding package. You will also be escorted by your personal wedding coordinator to proceed with your documentation and escorted back to your hotel after processing has been completed That is all you will need to get started with your dream tropical island wedding in the Bahamas.
